National swimming pool day
To our PCHOA neighbors with pools, congratulations on owning an item being honored today! National Swimming Pool Day occurs annually on July 11. It’s not only a celebration of swimming pools but also of all the accompanying paraphernalia, including pool toys, accessories, and swimwear. Take a moment to reminisce about your favorite pool memories and make today a special addition to your memory bank.
What makes the perfect pool day? Is it the chance to show off that summer bod, looking fabulous in the latest swimwear designs, or maybe the fact that you love the exercise that swimming provides? Or perhaps you love poolside barbeques and the very thought of it gets your mouth watering. Whatever the reason, we are sure glad that someone long ago thought of the concept of a swimming pool, which makes summer a lot more enjoyable (and the heat more bearable) altogether.
HOW TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL SWIMMING POOL DAY
1. Take a dip: This one was obvious. What better way can there possibly be to celebrate National Swimming Pool Day than diving right into the cool waters of your nearest pool?
2. Visit a water park: A fun day out for the whole gang, visit a water park near you or plan a road trip to some of the more famous ones. There’s no doubt this will be an enjoyable excursion for everyone, young and old! Whether you seek thrills by zipping down water slides or prefer just lazing in a tube and gently drift around, there’s bound to be something for everyone.
See the Fayette County website for detailed info regarding swimming pool safety and best practices. (https://fayettecountyga.gov/)
July is Family Reunion Month
The impact of a family reunion can actually be quite profound on family members, helping create lasting memories through new experiences and fun activities.
1. It’s a celebration of family
When the going gets tough, the family has your back. They are there to support and guide you along. They are also present in happy times to cheer you on. This kind of kinship allows life to become more enjoyable.
2. It’s a celebration of ancestry
Our ancestors have gone through hardships just so we can enjoy the life we have today. It is always interesting to sit down and listen to their stories of survival. Each time, you can take away lessons from them as well as get to know them a little better.
3. It’s a celebration of bonding
Who says family has to be blood? Family also includes those people who came into your life and never left. This bond can be extra special because you became family by choice instead of fate.
So whether you have one coming up or have already attended one this summer, a family reunion is about creating new memories and celebrating old ones. Hopefully you will leave your reunion with funny stories, adventures with cousins, and fond memories with older relatives. Can’t wait until the next one!!!

Tiny Library Coming to our neighborhood!!
Howdy PCHOA neighbors.
Finally, we will have a tiny library in our community! Our neighbor, Janetta, spearheaded this effort and the unveiling date is nearby!
A ribbon cutting ceremony for the tiny library will be on Saturday April 20th. We’d like as many neighbors as possible to come out in support. The library will be installed near the tennis court and we ask that you bring a book along to supply the library. The tiny library will also be registered at https://littlefreelibrary.org/
The benefits of a tiny library are:
1. Promotes Literacy - Reading teaches discipline, empathy, history (and what we can learn from it), etc. The benefits are in indeed too numerous to list in full. Books are treasures, and the tiny library is an easy and risk-free way for someone to get into a book. Users are able to “take” a book with no pressure to return it. However, hopefully if one takes a book, they leave one for the next person who might be interested.
2. Promotes General Neighborliness - In the words of Marcus Brotherton: “When it comes to where he lives, an immature man tends to see his neighborhood only as a place to hang his hat. But a mature man sees his neighborhood as a place he helps create.” You can help create the neighborhood you want to live in — that you want your children to grow up in — by installing a little free library. You’re promoting not only literacy, but friendliness, general well-being, community identity, etc.
3. Allows You to Talk with Strangers - The ability to talk with strangers is a skill which improves your general social skills, but also just makes one happier. Neighbors should never be strangers. What better way to commune with strangers than over books? Whether you start up a conversation or they do, more often than not there’s some small talk happening at the tiny library. Knowing your neighbors leads to more open communications and a better neighborhood overall.
4. Cultivates Your Spirit of Generosity - Books and the knowledge that comes with them are highly valued. The generosity of a diverse tiny library to be enjoyed by neighbors is a small act of kindness. Generosity is about giving . . . . .giving of yourself, giving to your neighbors, giving to our community. Who knows? This one small act could change the way neighbors connect, act and interact.
Kudos Janetta, for following this initiative thru to the end!!
