Good Neighbor Month
Good neighbors make great communities!!!
September 28th marks Good Neighbor Day. The purpose is to encourage people to take action in their communities, unite neighborhoods and spotlight those making a difference. It’s a reminder that each of us plays a role in strengthening our community and making it a better place to live.
Last year, State Farm along with Disney and many of its affiliates (GMA, Marvel) promoted Good Neighbor month for the full month of September.
Against the backdrop of busy schedules, take time to show interest in the family next door or across the street. These lasting friendships with neighbors help promote peace and harmony in the neighborhood.
What can I do?
Just say Hello: it really is that simple! Take the 1st step and introduce yourself. Engage with those you see in the community and start up a conversation with a simple hello!
Lend a hand: Help your neighbors with a chore. Help them mow the lawn or with other yardwork, baby sit their kids and/or pets , wash their car.
Stay attentive: Keep your eyes and ears open. Know what’s happening with your neighbors. Be aware so the community stays safe and secure.
Share a meal: it could be a fresh batch of home baked cookies, a homemade meal or ordered food. Invite them over or send it to them!

Library Card Signup Month
September is Library Card Signup Month!
Library Card Sign-Up Month is a national campaign to emphasize the importance of library cards to a child’s education and to combat illiteracy. The campaign first started in 1987 as a response to then Secretary of Education, William Bennett, who stated: “Let’s have a campaign … Every child should obtain a library card and use it.”
Eat a peach day!
Peaches are quite possibly the world’s perfect fruit, they are rich and delicious and even their flesh has an amazing texture. The aroma they fill the air with is enough to turn one’s stomach to rumble, and there’s little that can compare to a nice cold peach tea in the summer heat. it’s never a bad time to spend a little quality time with this perfect fruit.
Did you know that China produces more than half of the peaches in the world? So, we have them to thank for this amazing piece of fruit! Peaches offer a number of different health benefits, and so not only do they taste amazing, but they are great for your wellbeing too. They are excellent in terms of de-bloating and blood pressure control, as well as promoting brain health. They also help with weight management, lower the risk of cancer, protect your eyes, perk up your skin, boost your immune system, and they are good for digestion as well.
As you all know, the nickname for Georgia is ‘The Peach State’!! It probably, therefore, comes as no surprise that “The World’s Largest Peach Cobbler” is made in Georgia every year. This dessert measures 11 feet by five feet, pretty impressive, right? There are a number of types of peaches, yet the two main varieties are freestone and clingstone. It is more difficult to get rid of the fresh from the pit on a clingstone variety of peach.
