Fayette County Releases Update on SR 279 Roadway Improvement Project

Fayette County is advancing its SR 279, SR 85, and Corinth Road Corridor Improvement Project (GDOT Project PI #0017813), funded in part by SPLOST. The aim is to improve traffic flow and safety. Planned upgrades include better intersections, widened roads, shoulder improvements, and extending Corinth Road to Carnes Drive.

In 2023, the Board of Commissioners approved Alternative 2 which includes improvements to the existing roadways, such as additional turn lanes and safety enhancements at key intersections.
